Raising Cain at the Northern Americana Festival 2009

Raising Cain are one of the few bands who can play hard-edged country rock and sensitive country ballads in the same set to great effect.

They have quickly established themselves on the UK country scene as a group with great enthusiasm and energy.

However, 'Raising Cain' today, is a very different proposition to the band that first took to the stage on 10th June 1995.

Although the idea of playing country rock was a motivating factor in those early days, the North East pub scene just didn't seem to’ get it’!

As a consequence, despite sneaking in some country style numbers, the pressure to compensate and play songs that were more ‘user friendly‘,  became very frustrating.

In March 2004 the band decided to take a long break to regroup and rekindle their enthusiasm.

In July of 2006, Raising Cain rose again, this time with a determination and resolve to play uncompromising country rock.

It seems to have paid off.
